Canada Revenue Agency has agreed to return to the bargaining table the week of July 6 in the wake of ongoing pressure from our members.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>PSAC-UTE members have played a pivotal role during the pandemic, going above and beyond to provide emergency financial assistance to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/en\/news-events\/news\/psac-members-process-nearly-4-million-cerb-applications-first-week\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">millions of Canadians<\/a>&nbsp;during peak tax season. Members have been working day and night from their homes&mdash;often while also juggling family obligations&mdash;to provide support on an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/en\/news-events\/news\/kathy-ajram-front-lines-delivering-covid-19-financial-benefits\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">historic scale.<\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>At the end of April, a Public Interest Commission (PIC)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/sites\/default\/files\/pdf\/bargaining\/2018\/CRA_PIC_Report_-_English_-_29_April_2020.pdf\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">released recommendations for a settlement<\/a>&nbsp;for PSAC-UTE members. The Commission sided with several union proposals, including:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Addressing the wage disparity with our co-workers in the Audit, Financial and Scientific (AFS) group; management cannot simply offer us the wage pattern achieved by the PA group under Treasury Board for the 2016-18 period.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Recognizing that management may have to move on &ldquo;one or more of the issues&rdquo; related to working conditions in call centres raised by the union in order to reach a settlement.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Adopting improved definitions of &ldquo;family&rdquo; and &ldquo;travelling time&rdquo;.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Acknowledging there is no valid reason for management to oppose seniority recognition for scheduling evening and weekend work.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Reimbursing medical certificates that management requests from employees.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Allowing union officials access to CRA facilities without unreasonable denials from the employer.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>Our bargaining team also remains committed to our proposal to allow term employees the opportunity to gain indeterminate status rather than spending years on short-term contracts.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>Since the PIC report, thousands of PSAC-UTE members have called and emailed Treasury Board President Jean-Yves Duclos and Minister of National Revenue Diane Lebouthillier to pressure the employer back to the bargaining table.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>The Agency must now be prepared to return to the table ready to address the key concerns as per the Public Interest Commission&rsquo;s recommendations.<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>For regular updates, visit&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/en\/bargaining\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">ute-sei.org<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/psacunion.ca\/canada-revenue-agency\" target=\"_blank\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">psacunion.ca\/canada-revenue-agency<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/en\/for-members\/subscribe\" style=\"color: #336699;font-weight: normal;text-decoration: underline;\">subscribe for regular email updates<\/a>.
